Post-postmodernist Style as a trend

Perhaps today's news articles, magazines, blogs, clothing, posters (things incorporating style) are full of enticing graphics and illustration in what I would like to consider today's trends. For example, art with illustrations may seemingly incorporates incredible illustrative designs marking yet still follows the underlying guides set forth by modern rules. The rule of 3rds, rules of spacing, rules, of size and dimensions. These are the types of rules I am talking about. They are what make the aesthetics of our style. But honestly, trying to critique and change(Postpostmodernism) a changed version(Postmodernism) of an original change(modernism) to an original style(pre-modernism) seems a little overwhelming... But is that all that is left for us to design and create in order to find that last bit of "New"ness in our society?

I would like to devise a plan to start a new term which would help alleviate the redundancy?

Vivienne Westwood

In 1970, Vivienne Westwood shook up British fashion indelibly. She and then-partner Malcolm McLaren of the Sex Pistols opened a store on Kings Road, called Let it Rock, which functioned as an outlet for the two to showcase their respective interests. For Westwood, it was her penchant for leather and zippers. The store, now called World’s End, is still open and continues to carry Westwood’s collections: her main women’s ready-to-wear line, which she officially launched in 1981; her Red Label, which skews to younger tastes; a mass-market line called Anglomania; and her menswear line. Her designs have grown leaps and bounds in sophistication but retain the same tropes as always (pirates, tartans, courtesans, Victoriana, bondage). But although Westwood has remained one of Britain’s most influential designers—influencing Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano and the like—she has struggled with profitability.

Post Post Modern
Post Post Modern - Pushing Grid Systems

For this project you will be designing/re-designing a movie poster, book cover, or record album (you are welcome to propose a project that includes text and image) into a tense/explorative/deconstructive post modernist design.

Post-Postmodern Poster??

Your first step is research and you should collect at least 9 images/ideas of individuals such as Malcolm McClaren, Vivienne Westwood, Robert Rauschenberg, John Cage, Steve Reich, El Lissitzky, or Willi Kunz. You are of course encouraged to branch off of this list. You must find images/ideas from at least 3 creatives but are encouraged to be more expansive in your research.
